Corey Black lives and works on Gadigal land. His practice orchestrates a fusion of industrial and post-industrial fabrication methods that dig into conditions of embodiment, form, materiality and consumption. Uncovering the uncanny amidst the ubiquitous, his work allows disparate elements to find common ground amongst contemporary rubble.
He has exhibited with Firstdraft, Minerva, Sydenham International, ethan frome and Photo Access and undertaken residences at the Corridor Project, Cowra and the British School at Rome, Italy. He held the position of co-director of Schmick Contemporary in 2024. He is currently preparing to undertake a three month artist residency at Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris for the period of July-September 2026.
